Development partners Newpark Group and Retail Property Investments have engaged Construction Partnership UK on a £2.3m contract to redevelop former council offices at Manchester Road, Chorlton into 22 apartments and three retail units.
The Skelmersdale contractor has already started on site at the mixed-use scheme, which has been designed by Liverpool-based DV Architects.
The ex-municipal building was acquired by Salford-based investor RPI and its partner in August 2016, and the project is expected to complete by the end of 2018. Works include the addition of a fourth storey.
Managing director Steve Burke said: “The existing building is on the main road and is bounded on both sides by busy retail businesses and a car park. Due to this and the restrictive nature of the site, close liaison with the surrounding businesses is essential.
“The project is to form new retail units on the ground floor, including a new fully glazed curtain walled shop front to Manchester Road, with café seating behind a glazed balustrade to the front apron.”
Burke added that the existing façades will be enhanced including the replacement of all windows, while the apartments will be serviced by a newly refurbished service core, including a new lift accessing the upper floors.
CPUK is also currently on site with a £3m apartment scheme in one of the last remaining vacant plots in Chapel Street, Salford, where it is building 25 apartments over eight storeys on the site of the former Albert Vaults pub.
Working with and for CPUK will be a pleasure!
