22nd April 2018
On Sunday 8th April 2018, our very own Mike and Phil took part in the Paris Marathon in memory of two of our late colleagues, Brian Rodgers and Alan Andrews. Training began back in December to prepare for the 26 mile run and fast forward 4 months and it was time to travel to Paris. The marathon started at the Champs Elysees passing other historic sites such as Notre Dame Cathedral, the Bastille and the Effiel Tower but finishing at the Arc de Triomphe.
They raised over £1000 for Macmillian Cancer Support which is absolutely fantastic. Well done Phil and Mike!
Here’s what they had to say about taking part in such a challenging event for such a great cause:
Said Phil “It was an amazing experience to run the Paris Marathon. It was a hot day but the crowds got us through it. Massive buzz to cross the finish line and raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support made all the effort (and blisters) worth it. Can’t wait to do it again!”
Said Mike “We had been training for the marathon since Christmas in much colder weather than what we experience on the day, making a challenging day even more challenging. This made crossing the finish line, feel like an even greater achievement and raising the money for Macmillan was a fantastic motivator to keep going. Would I do it again? Hell yeah.”
Working with and for CPUK will be a pleasure!
