This new build development took place on a live retail park on the outskirts of Blackpool. Before works commenced asbestos was removed from 5 existing units prior to them being demolished by ourselves.
Our challenges on this development included, tidal ground conditions, existing mains services in the vicinity of our works and a potential of unexploded wartime ordnance at shallow or deep depth level which affected our approach to piled foundations and involved employment of a specialist UXB service provider.
Concrete driven piles with a concrete ring beam and suspended concrete floor slab were installed to support the construction of the new 12,000sqft steel framed retail unit.
The external façade comprised of a mixture of facing brick, curtain wall glazing, cladding to the perimeter and a pitched cladded composite panel roof. The entrance and trolley storage area have a glass canopy and pedestrian areas were paved.
Internally, we installed division walls creating an amenity area together with a fridge store and warehouse to the rear of the retail area.
Our works also comprised the installation of a dock leveller to the loading bay and a concrete service yard to the rear of the unit for deliveries, together with customer car parking and soft landscaping areas to the front of the store.
