Warrington Town Centre is undergoing a major redevelopment and CPUK have been appointed to undertake the first phase which comprises a new 25,500 sq ft retail shell which will become the temporary home for Warrington’s award-winning market whilst a permanent market hall is being constructed. The temporary market shell will later be converted for retail use.
The project is located within the public realm on a remediated site and with restricted access, it is close to the transport interchange and railway stations and the site is surrounded on all sides by residential properties, the existing live market, retail units and car parks. Due to the restrictive nature of the site and limited storage space available, material deliveries throughout the construction period are being closely coordinated and scheduled.
Works comprise of a piled substructure solution, a structural steel frame and a mezzanine floor at first floor level which is part Beam and Block with a screed topping that will be removed at a later stage when the retail use on the building is undertaken. The envelope consists of masonry, rain-screen cladding, glazed curtain walling, roof structure and coverings and external works inclusive of incoming services and drainage.
External works comprise of traditional tarmac surfacing, granite block paving, soft landscaping and ornamental planting. Throughout the project close liaison is being maintained with all the project stakeholders.
The finishes and materials used on this project reflect the high aspirations of both the client and the design team on this high profile, flagship development.
