The scheme involved the design and build of 23No, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom dwellings for Great Places Housing Association.
The development is on the former site of Edgar Street dye works. The site was found to be contaminated and involved an extensive remediation process. Following the remediation, the foundations were piled, and the houses were constructed using traditional methods of lightweight block and stone facework. Roofs were covered with a riven edged tile, to complement the local surroundings.
The external works involved hard and soft landscaping to all gardens, where each dwelling has a shed with lockable cycle hoops, to comply with Code for Sustainable Homes, level 3.
“I would just like to say how impressed I have been with the Site Manager Ben Kirkman, and the rest of the site team on Edgar Street. Ben and his colleagues have delivered a high quality product that the Client has been delighted with. Ben really has worked exceptionally hard to get the site handed over to a very high standard, and is a great asset to CPUK.”
