The Project comprises the construction of 25,000 sq ft new build retail space and the alteration and refurbishment of 20,000 sq ft of existing space at Blackburn Retail Park. The new build includes a two storey split level facility incorporating extensive retaining structures. Deep sewer diversions were undertaken to maintain UU easement rights across the site prior to commencement of substructure works proper.
The overall construction is of steel frame with curtain walling/ cladding and brickwork. Externally the project includes service yards and extensive car parking. A key feature of the scheme is the close proximity of existing retail space and leisure facility (Ice Arena); all adjacent buildings have been kept fully operational throughout the construction phase.
