A key factor in the development of this site to provide 24 luxury apartments was the clients requirement to retain the original facade to the existing “Manley Units” which are of historical note in the local area.
In addition to extensive temporary works relating to the facade retention works, the existing facade also required underpinning to be carried out.
Following the installation of temporary works, the existing buildings behind the facade were demolished before the new build works could commence; this comprised a four storey steel frame structure with precast concrete floors. The external walls were of masonry construction with extensive glazed curtain walling; the roof comprised a single ply trocal membrane over composite roof sheets.
Internally the apartments were fully fitted out to an exceptional standard.
