CPUK Group is committed to:

  • Provide a comprehensive induction programme.
  • Provide training and development, where appropriate, to all employees.
  • Provide an annual staff development review/appraisal for individual employees which includes a meeting with the appropriate line manager.
  • Provide a Personal Development Plan which links to the staff development review/appraisal and which is reviewed periodically throughout the year.

Staff training/development activities are identified formally in the staff development reviews/appraisals and are derived from personal and/or Company goals. They are in line with one or more of the requirements below:

  • Those which are necessary for employees to be able to do their job more accurately, efficiently and effectively.
  • Those which are necessary for employees to keep up to date with new legislation, new technology, changing standards, practices and policies.
  • Those which will enable the continuation of improved job performance. Those which will prepare employees for future roles and responsibilities.


CPUK Group provides a budget for training and development (for appropriate internal & external courses/seminars), that enable all employees to achieve pre-set objectives, subject to finances/resources being available. Managers also allow time off for study or examinations wherever reasonable.

Where appropriate, training activities that are linked to external standards, e.g. NVQs, are encouraged.

All managers must be aware of the training and development policy and be committed to it. They must fully understand their crucial role in the training and developing of their staff and ensure equality of access to any training activities.

Employees at all levels must have the opportunity to assess training and development in line with this policy. Good communication is maintained through the team briefs, team meetings, information circulars and other appropriate materials. Above all, staff are encouraged to talk to each other openly and frequently.
